Kathy Richard Hernandez resides in Vidor, TX. She is married, and has two daughters, and three granddaughters. When Kathy first joined Mothers Against Drunk Driving in Beaumont TX, it was after the sudden and tragic death of her youngest daughter, 19-year-old Casey Dawn Hastings. Kathy attended many educational programs through MADD and soon became a MADD Volunteer Victim Advocate Speaker. Since then, Kathy has spoken at Victim Impact Panels and at high schools during drivers education classes and through the Shattered Dreams program. Her accolades include: the 2011 Jacqueline Saburido Save A Life Award in San Antonio, TX, and many television appearances in which she shared her personal story of loss in an effort to prevent further tragedies. Kathy’s goal is to bring awareness to the public on the consequences of drunk driving so that no other mom will have to lose a child from something so senseless and yet, so PREVENTABLE.
